GOD’s ENCOURAGING WORD

Isaiah 40:6-8

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Isaiah 40:8

My wife, Mary Sue, planted crocuses in our backyard. I love it when their lovely purple heads peek out ’cause spring’s around the corner. But those blooms are gone too soon.

In contrast, the truth of God’s Word abides and lives eternally, never to die, never to wilt. Isaiah likened the people to grass and the flowers of the field that wither and fade.

Things of the earth change but not God and His unchanging Word. “For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed” (Malachi 3:6). The writer of Hebrews exclaimed, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8).

God’s Word never fails; it encourages us and never lets us down. Numerous are the testimonies of persecuted and imprisoned Christians who were kept going by quoting Bible verses they had memorized.

Dear Father, I praise You for Your eternal Word that encourages me in every situation of life.
